On operating Society terminal:

This is the society terminal.  A society is a  permanent group of people that work together.  There are several societies on Calypso.  You can either apply for membership in a society, or create one using the society terminal.  If you are in a leading position of your society, you can also use the terminal to handle the society.  You can also get some statistics about societies at the terminal.
